Navigating the pages associated with CIS122:
I strongly suggest that you
take a little while and navigate my web site so that you familiarize yourself
with what is available and where it is located. There are notes, PowerPoint
presentations and sample programming examples that will benefit you as you
learn the material.
On the home page for the course:
The home page for the course
gives you access to all of the site pages that apply to the course that you are
taking. The left frame presents access to this information by category.
About This Course
 - Read Me First:The
page that you are currently reading which describes the web pages for this
     course.
- Introduction to
CIS122:This deals with the methods and expectations for this course. It
that should be read by all students because it contains my expectations
     for this course.
- Syllabus:Finally
there is the course syllabus for CIS122
·  The second
category is called Resources at this Web Site. The student should use the
weekly assignment to tell them what to read and study in each of these
categories. Use of these resources should be primarily driven by the
assignments in the Weekly Schedule.
 - Notes and handouts
for CIS122 points to the notes that will provide some information about
topics. The sample code is actually the main framework of this course.
- XHTML sample code has
examples of all of the XHTML that I will be going over in class. It is
your primary source for information while we are studying XHTML. HTML5 sample code shows
the current method of coding using HTML5. Some examples are still only using XHTML when
there has essentially been little change. I
strongly recommend that you find a tutorial or buy a book to supplement
     this information.
- There is also code
for standard HTML under HTML sample code.
     This should also be referenced.
- Cascading Style Sheet
sample code has the examples of CSS that I will be going over in class.
Again, it is your primary source for information while we are studying
CSS. CSS is also included in the XHTML and HTML5 examples. We will also spend time looking
     at CSS3. Again, I strongly
recommend that you find a tutorial or buy a book that includes CSS to
     supplement this information.
- JavaScript sample
code has the examples of JavaScript that I will be going over in class.
This is an important source for information while we are studying
JavaScript, but it should not be your only source. You definitely need to
find a good tutorial or buy a book that covers JavaScript to use as a
     reference in this course.
- Presentations for
CIS122 points to PowerPoint presentations that will provide additional
resources to accompany the notes and handouts and the sample code. The presentations tend
to be old because I have switched to using Audio lectures and Smartboard captures. Again, the coverage of JavaScript is not
complete enough to make it a major source - you need to find a JavaScript
site on the Web or a text.
- SmartBoard notes
captured during class and audio lectures captured during class are
available for most, but not all classes.
- I have left up the
HTML notes for you to use to compare to XHTML and HTML5.
·  The third
category is called Work. In this category you have the Weekly Schedule for
CIS122 including assignments. Several times a week, you should check this weekly
schedule to determine what you are being asked to do. You should read the
notes, look at the presentations and check the sample programs that I suggest
under the current week. You should also do the weekly assignment.
·  The fourth
category Links. In this category, I provide some links to areas on the Web
where you can find information for your log book.
·  The fifth
category Some XHTML and HTML5 tutorials provides you with links to get started studying XHTML and HTML5.
By the time you reach CSS and JavaScript you should be very adept at finding
your own resources.
The rest of the home page provides links to
the notes and presentations. The sample code and weekly assignment schedule are
located on separate pages.
