Unless otherwise specified, you must use a different search engine for each of the following. Tell me what engine you used, why you selected that particular engine, the search that you keyed in and the results that you got.
For number #5 you are going to use a directory instead of a search engine. For #10, you are going to specific sites to do a search at that site.

  3. My husband has heard that bats in Austin, Texas keep down the mosquitoes. Please check out these rumors. Find an article about the history of bats in Austin. Tell me the addresses where you found it.
  4. My daughter and son-in-law spent time in Azerbaijan. Using a search engine find information on the culture of Azerbaijan.
  5. Now try finding the information using directories (Hint: one place you can find to do a directory search is at Yahoo) - tell me what directory you used and what path you followed.
  6. I want to go out and eat in New York city when I go to visit my son next. I want to eat either French or Thai food and I want it to be in a reasonable price range.
  7. My daughter is allergic to sugar. I want to find recipes for corn bread or cornbread that do not use sugar.
  8. I want to find colleges that offer four year degrees in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science using Distance Learning.
  9. Find an article about discusses the future of open source and databases.
  10. Go to http://www.promo.net/pg/ and explain what the site contains. See if Agatha Christie's Secret Adversary is available. Find a book and tell me what book you found.
