Week #4
Week of February 12th
I want you to go to the Boston Public Library and sign up for a card - Steph you go to school in MA so that works. The address is bpl.org. Sign up for an electronic card. Then I want you to start reading the book Secrets of RSS by Steven Holzner Published by Peachpit Press. It is avaliable on line for reading. Read the first six chapters this week (the first three are for the CIS49 class, so...). Oh, just read the whole book - it is a fast read and there is a lot of interesting information. Remember I want you to set up and work with a RSS reader using bloglines.
Week #3
Week of February 5th
This week CIS49 and CIT35 are going to come together as we talk about RSS feeds and all that good stuff - we can meet Thursday at 3:00 to look at all this.
Then we need to get Mr. Sanford's stuff converted.
Week #2
Week of January 29th
Please read Tutorial 2 and lets do the project and a Case Study. However gets it done first gets to choose which ones, so let me know if you finish before I do.
Week #1
Week of January 22nd
Please read Tutorial 1 in the Comprehensive XML by Patrick Carey. This week we are going to do the Superstar Movies which is the tutorial 1 project and one of the Case Studies (I just did case study 3 so that would be a good one). I also did case study 1 so I will make you a collaborator on that and you can check out my answer (I did not do the whole thing). You can get the assignment and the files by going Course Technologies (www.course.com) and downloading the student files associated with the text. We are going to use Google Docs & Spreadsheets to work on this. You need to set up a google account and put your solution up there making me a collaborator using my pgrocer@ bristol.mass.edu email. I also want you to start finding good reference websites for XML and post them to the del.icio.us/CIT35 account. I sent you the password via email.
